Five things I’m currently obsessed with
Hey blogosphere! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so I thought a good way to ease back in would be to tell you all what I’m currently obsessed with.
1. Ryan Adams “1989”
Who wouldn’t love an indie-rock cover album of T. Swift’s finest album yet? This album is probably everything I could have asked for in life, and you need to listen to it right now. My favorite tracks are “Wildest Dreams” and “Welcome To New York.”
Listen to “1989” on Spotify here.
Other albums I’m obsessing over:
- “Grand Romantic” – Nate Ruess
- “Between The Pines (Acoustic Mixtape)” – Sam Hunt.
- “Perfect- EP” – One Direction
- I’m also in love with the other tracks that have been dropped before “Made in the A.M.” is released on Friday, because I am low-key casually obsessed with 1D, as you can tell from this tweet:
2. Jane the Virgin
This is a hilarious show that everyone should be watching. Like, for real, everyone should be watching this show (and you can, because season 1 is on Netflix and season 2 is streaming on Hulu). Basically, Jane, a virgin, gets accidentally inseminated and ends up pregnant, and the show chronicles the story of what happens in her life once she finds out she’s going to be a mom. This show is a great comedy-romance-mystery that consistently delivers laughs and plot twists that will blow your mind. Even more so, the comedy-romance-mystery also spoofs off telenovelas, which is a completely hilarious concept. Every time I watch this show, I think about how much my grandma would appreciate the humor and completely laugh her butt off.
3. The List App
Co-created by Office star B.J. Novak (who is also best friends with Mindy Kaling, whose new book is out and I am equally obsessed with it), The List App is just that: an app where you can post lists about basically anything. When you get started, it gives you some list topics, like “Approved Epitaphs for My Tombstone,” “My Go-To Karaoke Songs” and “If I Were Trapped On a Desert Island with Only Three TV Series” (mine include Friends, because I honestly think I’ll never get tired of that show; Grey’s Anatomy, because there is just enough drama and romance for me to function properly; and I’ve yet to think of the third show because, frankly, it’s impossible for me to choose just three shows).

4. The Star Trek emoji
Live Long and Prosper, dudes. Live Long and Prosper.
5. Master of None
If you’re not doing anything this weekend, binge Aziz Ansari’s new original series on Netflix. It’s AWESOME. I thought I loved Ansari in “Parks and Rec,” but man, is he good in “Master of None.” It’s only 10 episodes long, so I was able to binge the entire series in a day (each episode is 30 minutes). The plot of the show is pretty basic: Ansari character Dev tries to juggle his life, work, love life, friends etc., but each episode is centered around just one of these topics, not all of them at once. This is what makes the show refreshing, and easily one of the best shows on television right now. To make it even better, Ansari cast his own parents to play his parents on the show, and they steal scenes like it’s nobody’s business.
